About Us

​Southwind at Spearville is a nonprofit (501 c3) corporation with a local governing board of directors. We are excited to have built a state-of-the-art skilled nursing and assisted living campus to serve the elders of the community.

Our home consists of  14 skilled nursing care single rooms and 12 assisted living one and two-bedroom apartments. The skilled nursing is licensed to provide services covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most Long Term Care Insurances.

Our board of directors is comprised of 6 persons from the local community. The board meets each month to provide oversight and direction.

GraceTeam is the management company and is an experienced senior living management and development company based in Kansas.


Our Mission
Our mission is to serve elders in an honorable way in a person-directed environment where staff engage in caregiving relationships based upon an individual’s needs and personal desires.

Ron Temaat (President)
Ron Temaat has been with USDA – NRSC for twenty eight years and for the past 12 years served as Supervisory District Conservationist. Ron has a Bachelors Degree from Kansas State University. Ron was elected to two terms as Mayor of the City of Spearville.

Sandy Hines (Vice-President)
Sandy is a graduate of Jetmore Senior High School. She operated a child day care center from 1980-1998 in Spearville. Sandy worked as a salesman for Feist Publications from 2004-2011 and as a personal care giver for elderly 2011-2015. In 2014, the Tom Feist Foundation was established, and Sandy became a Permanent Board Member.  She also serves as Secretary for the Foundation.  She recently retired from the Director of Food Service for USD 381 school district.  Sandy is a charter board member for Southwind at Spearville.

​Kelly Tasset
Kelly graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1995 with Bachelor of Science in Health & Human Services specializing in Recreation Administration. She worked for the Greeley Senior Activity Center for 4 years.  Family ties moved her to Spearville in 1996.  She worked 18 years at Western Plains Medical Complex with 3 years in Home Health as Office Manager and the next 15 years as the assistant to the Administrative team where she was involved in every aspect of the hospital operations including their senior program, marketing, risk and quality management, nursing & medical staff and governing board operations.  Currently at Raymond James Financial Services since 2015 as Administrative Assistant.

Lorie Stein (Secretary)
Lorie and her husband, LaVerne (Vern) moved back “home” (Spearville) in 2000 so that he could continue the farming/ranching business that has been in his family for several generations.

Lorie holds degrees in Business & Mathematics as well as Secondary Education, from St. Mary of the Plains College. In 2007, she completed a Master’s Degree in School Counseling through Fort Hays State University.
Lorie is a retired educator, after working in the field of education for 30 years (23 of those being in the Spearville School District).

​​Theresa Stegman
Theresa joined the board in September 2019.  She is a lifelong resident of Spearville and graduated from Spearville High School in 1979.  She completed her licensure as a Registered Nurse with Dodge City Community College and St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City Kansas.  She has worked for hospitals, home health and is currently employed at the Ford County Health Department.

Judy Konrade
Judy has lived in the Windthorst/Spearville community all of her life.  She attended Windthorst High School graduating in 1969.  Judy worked for several years as an accounts receivable clerk at Speed King Mfg. in Dodge City, KS and then was Clerk of the Board of  Education and Superintendent's Secretary for 35 years at USD #381 Spearville. She has been married to her husband Robert for 49 years.  They have 3 children and nine grandchildren.  Judy is currently retired.

Kurt Lampe
Kurt Lampe is a graduate of Spearville High School who has devoted the past 12 years of his life to serving seniors.  He currently works at Gibson’s Pharmacy in Dodge City.  Kurt volunteers for multiple associations including Dodge City Days, United Way of Dodge City, Ford County Community Coalition Board, and Cultural Relations Advisory Board.  Kurt says, “When I began working in Long-Term Care, I found my true passion in life.  I love working and helping seniors everywhere.”  Kurt loves organizing and planning events for local seniors as well. 
​
Kurt is married to Nadine and together they have 2 adult children.
